If there’s one thing Saturday Night Live has been getting right for decades now, it’s commercial parodies. Cheesy cold commercials may be an easy target, but that doesn’t make this sketch starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig any less funny.

It’s a simple set-up, but it’s a gag that doesn’t need to be complicated. A woman tries to tell the viewers at home about how wonderful Nasaflu is for all of their cold-fighting needs, but her husband’s thoroughly obnoxious sneezing gets in the way at every turn.

It’s a scene that wonderfully plays to the strengths of both performers. Wiig is a master of deadpan reactions and her slow boil from irritated to enraged is absolutely perfect. As for Ferrell, there has never been a anyone better at sudden, loud and bizarre outbursts. In a future textbook about the history of comedy, you can bet that he’ll be noted as the man who mastered the art of comedic shouting.

This is the woman who periodically throughout my life would deliver birthday presents to me usually in a one to two week time frame AFTER my date of birth.

Even after I had left home it wasn’t uncommon to be surprised on any particular day (months after my birthday) to find a birthday card had arrived in the mail.  I think a couple of times she even tried to claim the cards intent was to be months EARLIER than anticipated but I never bought it.  So there is no guilt associated with this last minute gift shopping especially when Jimmy Kimmel here has done all the work.  Craigslist…duh…why didn’t I think of that.

Let the reign of Seth MacFarlane continue!  Where once ‘Family Guy‘ had been cancelled and seemingly gone forever, eight years later FOX announces that the series will indeed return for an 11th season, while its spiritual spin-off ‘American Dad‘ will return for an eighth alongside it.  So with Seth MacFarlane’s first two series renewed, what’s to become of ‘The Cleveland Show?’

Deadline was the one to break the news, that at least two of Seth MacFarlane’s animated efforts would see additional seasons through 2014, the orders likely for 22 episodes apiece.  Interestingly, ‘American Dad’ recently returned from hiatus in its sixth season, meaning the show has a full seventh season already in the can on top of the current renewal.

Due to the long turnaround of animation series of this style, ‘The Cleveland Show’ is already in production on a fourth season, currently airing its third, though FOX has yet to make a decision on a fifth alongside the other renewals.  The network may wish to see how its options play out, though ‘The Cleveland Show’ already has a syndication deal with Adult Swim in place for 2013.

Elsewhere, ever-running animation mainstay ‘The Simpsons‘ already has a two-year deal in place, along with ‘Bob’s Burgers‘ having negotiated for a third season back in January.  Jonah Hill’s ‘Allen Gregory’ has officially been cancelled, leaving the marginally more popular ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ adaptation on the bubble still.

It has to be one heck of a sight to see, being able to be an audience member and watch David Letterman interview Conan O’Brien. They’re easily both kings of late night talk shows and have been adored by the masses for years. Now they’re meeting up once more, making plenty of late night talk show fans very happy.

It was announced today that Conan O’Brien would be making a return appearance to ‘The Late Show with David Letterman.’ This is the first time that Conan O’Brien will be popping his head on Letterman show in thirteen years. Talk about a long time.

Conan will come onto the show this May 17th, which is great for television fans because that means they don’t have to wait too long for this to happen. Conan isn’t the only guest who will be appearing on this episode: the other special guests scheduled include Regina Spektor and musician John Mayer (during the show Mayer will be performing alongside Paul Shaffer and the band).

What makes this sudden appearance really cool? It’s the fact that these two are practically late night legends. The fact that they’ll be sitting next to each other talking about anything and everything (likely their mutual dislike for Jay Leno) is enough to get anybody excited for this episode. ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ airs on CBS at 11:35/10:35 PM Central.

Just because the unemployment rate is high doesn’t mean everyone is desperate for work — some are even willing to leave their jobs altogether.

And when they do, the reasons they sometimes give are rather eyebrow-raising.

Staffing services company OfficeTeam recently surveyed more than 1,300 senior managers, who revealed the most bizarre things employees told them when heading for the door.

Some were truly head-scratching:

• “Our employee said he was joining the circus.”
• “One person left because she lost her cell phone too many times at work.”
• “We had someone quit to participate in a reality show.”
• “An employee said it was his routine to change jobs every six months.”

Others were following a dream:

• “One worker left to become an apple farmer.”
• “A staff member quit to climb Mount Everest.”
• “There was an individual who left to play the trombone.”
• “One worker quit to join a rock band.”

Some just weren’t cut out for 9-5:

• “One person left because she didn’t want to work so hard.”
• “Someone quit because she was going to live off her trust fund.”
• “An employee said work was getting in the way of having fun.”
• “The worker told us he just couldn’t get up in the morning.”

And still others had an overly-developed sense of aesthetics:

• “A person quit because he hated the carpet.”
• “One worker did not like the colors of the walls.”
• “The employee quit because the office building was unattractive.”
• “Someone felt the lobby area was too small.”

But regardless, Robert Hosking, executive director of OfficeTeam, said, “How you leave a job can be just as important as what you did while you were there…making a graceful exit by tying up loose ends and thanking colleagues shows your professionalism and can help you down the road in your career.”

Police say that they have finally caught the person responsible for more than 100 robberies that have taken place over the last two years in northern Nashville, Tennessee.

What’s shocking is that the culprit is a 14-year-old boy who apparently used a go-kart as his getaway vehicle.

According to one report, the teen, whose name is being withheld due to his being a minor, allegedly kicked in doors and stole video games, flat screen televisions, and just about anything else he could get his hands on. Then he would speed away through back alleys to the next house in his go-kart.

Metro Police Lt. Horace Temple said, “He’s tested the waters and tested our resources, definitely. He was an innovative individual.”

In a way, officers say they feel bad for the teen, stating that he had lost both of his parents and needed someone to look up to. “The child didn’t have a mentor or any kind of guidance in his life, and it kind of led to the life of crime on the streets,” Temple said.

Police say that he has admitted to several break-ins.

The teen is now facing time in state custody.

After dumping an urn full of ashes on Ryan Seacrest at the Academy Awards, Sacha Baron Cohen apologized to the “American Idol” host and revealed the big Hollywood star he originally planned to soil with incinerated human remains.

“The Dictator” star and Seacrest had another run-in backstage at “Saturday Night Live,” this past weekend, during which Baron Cohen took the opportunity to apologize for his red carpet stunt. Moments after his “Weekend Update” walk-on cameo, the actor broke out of his “Dictator” character to make amends with the smiley Seacrest.

“He comes off stage, comes over to me, breaks character and says sorry about the Oscars, it wasn’t personal,” said Seacrest during his KIIS-FM radio show.

Indeed it wasn’t, as Baron Cohen told Seacrest he had another celebrity in mind his “Dictator” prank, George Clooney.

“Originally he said that they were going to spill whatever it was in that urn on George Clooney. Someone decided that wasn’t a great idea because he was up for a lot of nominations, it was a big night that night. Then they somehow spun the wheel of tragedy and landed on my name,” explained Seacrest.

Though Seacrest took the gag in stride, we’re left to wonder how Hollywood’s most celebrated leading man and outspoken political activist would’ve reacted to having “The Dictator” dump a pile of ash on his Armani duds.

Please, make it stop.  Chevy Chase, you break our hearts whenever you open your mouth about ‘Community.’  That’s right, it seems as though even weeks after the fervor of ‘Community’ star and comedy legend Chevy’ Chase’s feud with series creator Dan Harmon seems to have died down, the silver-haired comedian is at it again with any reporter who asks.

Vulture had a chance to catch up with Chase last night at the opening night of the Columbia University Film Festival at Lincoln Center, where the star ducked a few questions, but still made no secret of his issues with the series’ brand of comedy.  Chase wouldn’t speculate about the direction his character Pierce Hawthorne might take in future episodes, given that they don’t yet know if ‘Community’ will return for a fourth season, but did note that to improve the series he’d “make it funnier” with his own brand of humor, and adds he’s “getting tired” of playing his character.

Speaking on Pierce and the work of his co-stars, Chase explained:

I just don’t think the writing of that character reflects what I do comedically, and I love the people I work with. They’re all good kids, and they all do very well in their parts. But I don’t think anyone has a sense of what to do with me, so I got to play some gray-haired, biased, bigoted guy. I’ve been too funny in my life to have to play a character who’s…moderately funny.

Still, Chase downplayed any remaining significance to his public feud with Dan Harmon, describing it as “long gone” since the two had a chance to speak with one another.  Ever one to remain vocally critical, Chase also refused to speculate on whether or not time would heal any wounds that the show has sustained in the supposed controversy, closing with “I wouldn’t answer such a cliché.”  Ouch, Chevy.

Did you know that the comedy duo of Cheech and Chong had a third member of their comedy team who was later cut out of their movies? Thanks to Saturday Night Live, you can now see this long lost footage for the first time ever1

Of course, it’s only a sketch, but it’s a funny one with a film buff-friendly framing device. The skit is structured like a Turner Classic Movies special, with host Roger Osborne introducing the audience to scenes later cut from Cheech and Chong’s 1970s stoner comedies. Each of them features the character of Richard, the pot-smoking duo’s straight arrow best friend. Naturally, he’s only in the first five minutes of each movie before he gets uncomfortable and demands that they let him out of the car. Simultaneous Cheech and Chong/TCM parodies don’t get much more accurate than this.

There hasn’t been an official announcement of the game just yet, but listings on Amazon have revealed that ‘Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse’ is in the works for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

While Amazon has a release date of September 25th, 2012 announced, the site is notorious for putting up dates before they’re set in stone, so take it with a grain of salt. There’s no other info on the game just yet besides the box art, which reveals Activison as the publisher.

Judging from the game’s title it’s likely that it will be patterned after the first episode of the eighth season of the show,  ‘Road to the Multiverse’, which saw Stewie and Brian using a TV remote to go through various parallel universes. It’s certainly a solid concept for a video game and one that will allow the game to place the characters in different genres and settings.

Let’s just hope it’s better than Family Guy Online or that awful, awful game that hit the PS2, Xbox and PSP in 2006.

The cause of road rage is no major scientific secret. American drivers can be rude, obnoxious, selfish and downright dangerous. Just driving down any major thoroughfare in the country can turn Mother Theresa into Leona Helmsley.

Sometimes it is a combination of smaller causes that can create this big problem. Here are some of those.

1. You’ve got both hands on the wheel, a steaming hot cup of coffee in your lap and a speed bump in front of you that looks like Rush Limbaugh is lying across the middle of the highway.

2. You’re listening to the only radio station in the world that still plays that ‘Barbie Girl’ song.

3. The driver in front of you is reading the newspaper, making a cappuccino and folding her laundry.

4. The entire police force has been trying to get you to pull over for 20 miles because of a stupid broken tail light.

5. You realize you’re over 50, single and driving a used Geo.

6. Sure, the other cars are getting out of your way, but it’s only because the kids crying in the backseat make the other drivers think you’re in an ambulance.

7. You live in California.

8. You missed your flight just as you drove through the security fence and fishtailed your car across the runway.

9. After narrowly missing the car in front of you and spinning out in the middle of the freeway, you realize the hot blonde in the other car you were flirting with is a golden retriever.

10. Your driving instructor asks if you don’t mind driving by his friend’s place so he can drop off some bags of unmarked bills and cocaine labeled “Potatoes” in Sharpie.

11. You realize that you’re going 88 miles per hour and haven’t gone back in time.

12. The ferret in your pants may be a great way to get up and move in the morning, but once it builds a nest, it really doesn’t want to leave it.

Unbelievable how the woman attempts to derail the whole show over a title.  People who try to ruin what you do for a living deserve to be made into a joke. You wouldn’t walk over to a doctor during his procedure and shout incoherent bullshit whilst he is wrist deep in organs.

A news station in Seattle reported that a man in Tulsa, Oklahoma tried to evade the police after being stopped and had a portable meth lab burst in his pants.

The qualifications for a ‘meth lab’ are far-ranging and fairly casual – the guy had the ingredients in a plastic soda bottle.

We’re looking forward to seeing this scene play out in “Breaking Bad”.

What’s even more disconcerting is this cop’s name – Shiloh? Doesn’t exactly strike fear into the hearts of criminals.

We really can’t understand getting into meth. One wrong move and your ‘member’ punches an early ticket to the afterlife.

Henry Wolf of California is suing BMW America and aftermarket seatmaker Corbin-Pacific because he’s had a non-stop hard-on for 20 months after a four-hour ride on his 1993 BMW motorcycle.

According to the lawsuit he is “now is unable to engage in sexual activity, which is causing him substantial emotional and mental anguish.” Does he know there’s a lucrative career waiting for him in porn?

In response, a professor of urology stated, “It’s been long-known that compression of the neurovascular supply to the penis —  if it’s compressed for a period of time, whether it be on a bicycle seat or some other device — it can actually cause prolonged numbness of the genitalia.” So, that settles it. If you’re going on your honeymoon, take a long ride on a Harley, you should be good to go for the full 1-2 weeks.

This Henry sounds like a wimp. Every guy knows to tuck that in your waistband. Der.

We wonder if Mr. Wolf’s tried the methods suggested in ’40 Year Old Virgin’ when Andy calls the hotline operator who says:

“If you’d like the erection to go away, you can light a match, blow out the flame and put the hot ember on your wrist. And that will focus the brain elsewhere, and you will lose your erection…Take your finger and flick your testicle, and if you do that till it hurts, your erection will go away.”

Every club has em.  You’ve heard the guy or gal who after way over indulging feels the need to draw the attention of the room toward themselves with stupid commentary that 90% of the time doesn’t even make sense.  That’s what I want – Mr A-Hole in the crowd disrupting the flow of the show and harshing the entire rooms good time.

I find it hilarious when the heckler acts all shocked, surprised and bothered too when you as a paying customer, show how annoyed you are by their actions. This comes of course after glancing around the room seeking acknowledgement for one of their asinine comments.  The clue bus hasn’t hit them yet to let them know that you paid good money to see a PROFESSIONAL comedian & not their dumb drunken antics.
